Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) grew out of Kasturba Medical College, founded in Manipal in 1953 by Dr. T. M. A. Pai, and became a deemed university in 1993. Its hill-town campus in coastal Karnataka is home to a large student community drawn from across India and abroad. It offers programs in medicine, engineering, management, allied health, communication and more, with a lively, cosmopolitan student culture.
